Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 apple, peeled and finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the white sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Combine the flour and baking powder, then add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in the milk until smooth.
  5. Pour half the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture and half of the chopped apple over the batter. Pour in the remaining batter and top with the remaining cinnamon-sugar and apples. Use a knife to gently swirl the mixture for a marbled effect.
  6. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
