Ingredients

• 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

• 3/4 cup granulated sugar

• 1 large egg

• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

• 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

• 1/4 teaspoon salt

• Assorted colored sugar or sprinkles for decoration

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.

5. Fill a cookie press fitted with your favorite Christmas-shaped disc with the dough. Press cookies onto the prepared baking sheets about 1 inch apart.

6. Decorate each cookie with colored sugar or sprinkles as desired.

7. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from oven and allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
