Christmas Tree Cake Truffles

Nothing says holiday cheer quite like these adorable Christmas Tree Cake Truffles. They’re festive, bite-sized, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Using Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes as the base makes them easy, fun, and nostalgic—perfect for family gatherings, parties, or edible gifts.

Ingredients

For the Truffle Center

• 1 box (5 cakes) Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes, unwrapped

• 4 ounces (113 g) full-fat cream cheese, softened

For Coating & Decoration

• 10 ounces (285 g) white chocolate chips or vanilla candy melts

• 1 teaspoon coconut oil or shortening (optional, for smoother coating)

• Green sanding sugar or nonpareil sprinkles

• Small star-shaped sprinkles or yellow confetti quins

• Red or rainbow sprinkles (for ornaments)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Base
Place the unwrapped Christmas Tree Cakes in a stand mixer bowl (or a large bowl with a hand mixer). Break them apart slightly. Add softened cream cheese.
  2. Combine
Mix on medium-low speed until fully incorporated. You should have a uniform, soft dough that holds together when pressed. Scrape down the sides to ensure everything blends smoothly.
  3. Chill
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. This helps firm the dough for easier shaping.
  4. Shape the Truffles
Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, portion the dough and roll into compact balls. Arrange them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Freeze Briefly
Place the tray in the freezer for 15–20 minutes. A cold center prevents the truffles from softening too much during dipping.
  6. Prepare the Coating
Melt white chocolate or candy melts in a double boiler or microwave in short intervals. Stir until smooth. Add coconut oil if you want a thinner, silkier coating.
  7. Dip and Coat
Working with a few truffles at a time, dip each ball into the melted chocolate using a fork or dipping tool. Let the excess drip back into the bowl before setting it on the tray.
  8. Decorate Quickly
While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle with green sugar, place a yellow star on top, and add red sprinkles as ornaments.
  9. Let Set
Allow the chocolate to firm at room temperature, or speed up the process by chilling for 10 minutes in the fridge.
  10. Serve & Store
Enjoy your festive truffles chilled or at room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
